Chet Baker

I don’t usually post on Saturdays, but then again I don’t usually post anything in the realm of Chet Baker. He is one of those artists that you can’t help but pay some attention no matter who you are. If you don’t like Chet Baker you basically don’t like music. Okay that’s extreme but what the hell kick my ass if you think otherwise. In the comments section of course.

A few months ago I was in a music store that was on the verge of closing its doors and becoming something more profitable – selling stereos i think. I ended up picking an amazing black and white Chet Baker poster and as a result I ventured to purchase download his entire discography. I remember the two male employees getting far more excited than was appropriate about the fact that I had picked this poster. I think they were also relieved that I hadn’t chosen a The Darkness poster. Perhaps Chet Baker is now only music for music nerds. This song is a classic – I think it was composed by George Gershwin – and I’m a bit curious to see how people like it. Maybe Chet Baker can still be relevant? Maybe not.
