Vampire Weekend has been showing up a lot more often in the first few days of 2010, probably in preparation of their new album, titled Contra. The album will be officially released next week on January 12 and will include this tracklist.

I’m listening to it right now and let me just say that the song California English sounds like they used some auto tune effects on the vocals. A curious choice indeed. Hopefully this new single from Montreal’s own Chromeo means that a new album is in the works. Their last album Fancy Footwork came out way back in 2007 and since then they’ve gotten so popular that their new single Night by Night is being sponsored by Pepsi. So remember way back when, we couldn’t stop listening to Cross the Dancefloor by Atlanta king Treasure Fingers? Well I was going through a Fools Gold Remix album (Scion Cd Sampler Vol 22) and came up with this gem of a remix. It gives the song a even more authentic disco feel then it already had. Tonight is Nu ravers on the block’s big 1 year anniversary party featuring none other than france’s Les Petits Pilous and Vancouver’s Felix Cartal. The Montreal Mirror’s notorious Jack Oatman had a sit down with Nu raver’s and as a result here they are on the cover of this week’s issue.
