Above is a screengrab of a postcard sent to fans from Kings of Convenience announcing an upcoming album and corresponding tour. This is great news for anyone in Montreal who has been waiting for another show since 2006! Here’s a new single which has also been floating around the internet to give you a taste of what’s to come. More of the same, great vocal harmonies and guitar melodies.

Take a Look at the Whitest Boy Alive

whitest boy alive

I’ve been a Kings of Convenience fan for a number of years now (unfortunately they haven’t been in this city since 2005 and I missed them) but that is neither here nor there. I think the first song that actually got me into them was that Last Christmas Wham cover I posted a few weeks ago and I immediately noticed that they have all sorts of side projects going on.

Erlend Øye did a solo album in 2003 called Unrest and he’s instantly recognizable on a more than a few tracks on the Röyksopp album Melody A.M. I had heard about the Whitest Boy Alive a few times but I kept putting it off for some reason. I just scrobbled them with my last.fm player that my roommate just convinced me to download and I have to say, they are more than good. Great some might even say. By the way here is my last.fm profile page if you want to pry in on my personal listening habits at any hour of the day or night.
