The Adventures of Bobby Ray is the first full studio album from Bobby Ray Simmons who has been releasing mixtapes under the name B.o.B. since 2006. There are a number of fairly radio friendly songs on the album including Airplanes which features a very pop driven chorus by Hayley Williams. Other collaborators include: Lupe Fiasco, T.I., Eminem and Rivers Cuomo. As you may have guessed “The Kids” borrows from the Vampire Weekend single and is so far one of my favorite songs. The song Magic really gives you the sense that Simmons was having fun with this album. The song starts with synthesized guitar sounds while Cuomo sings a pretty standard Weezer inspired chorus until his voice gets a record scratch effect and the hip hop element becomes obvious.

You might recognize the beat of Move On Up by the late and great Curtis Mayfield from the Kanye West hit Touch the Sky featuring Lupe Fiasco. This remix by Dj Ayres and is part of the remix album It’s the Motherfucking Remix Vol 2.2 by The Rub crew.

This week’s Monday Re up marks the 100th post in this blog’s history and as a result ya’ll are being treated to an extra large portion of songs to keep your toes tapping and fingers snapping throughout the week.

First of I came across this Lykke Li video of her performing Dance Dance Dance with none other than Bon Iver. Watch her shake her accessories about and flail around in the most memorizing of ways. The footage is shot in a kind of purposefully erratic way which for whatever reason ends up working wonderfully.

Also this week we’ve got the best Love Lockdown remix of the hundreds that surfaced from Kanye’s stem experiment and an old (but great) kick push remix that I’ve been listening to lately. Enjoy the week.

Chi city wizard Lupe Fiasco has dropped an all new version of the hit Paris, Tokyo from his latest album The Cool. It features none other than Pharrell, Q Tip and Sarah Green. You may know Pharrell from The Neptunes and N.E.R.D. and if you don’t you should. The video for the original Paris, Tokyo is here too, the concept has Lupe Fiasco dressed up in all sorts of gentlemanly attire. So get a passport and check the track out.
